I recently stayed at this hotel with my partner and our dog, and I must say it was a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the hotel was dog-friendly—our furry friend was warmly welcomed with treats at the reception, which was such a thoughtful touch. I had a special request for synthetic bedding (duvet and pillows), and the staff handled it promptly and without any issues. I’m incredibly grateful for their attentiveness and efficiency in accommodating this request. The food was another highlight of our stay. As a vegan, I often struggle to find suitable options at restaurants, but this hotel offered several delicious vegan dishes, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The decor in the hotel is a bit tired, but I can imagine how much work it would be to update such a large property. Despite this, all the facilities, including the bed and bathroom, were exactly as they should be. I prefer to focus on the positive aspects rather than nitpick minor details, and there were plenty of good elements to appreciate. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel at ease throughout our stay. One of my favourite aspects of the hotel was its spacious, dog-friendly lounges. It was so nice to relax in these areas with our dog by our side. The building itself is quite large and boasts some truly beautiful features—you just need to take a closer look to appreciate them. The architecture of the main building, the massive old doors, the stained glass at the main entrance, the stunning staircases, and the intricate details throughout the hotel all added to its charm. We had a lovely stay, and I am sure it was mostly thanks to the wonderful people who work there and do such a fantastic job. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for those travelling with pets or looking for thoughtful service and unique surroundings.

from the girl that checked us in to every other member of staff they were all just excellent so very polite and nothing was a problem, the dinners we had on both nights in the restaurant were excellent , very tasty and good size of portions , the lunch we had in the Cocktail bar was the same , the breakfast was exceptional and so many choices for a buffet breakfast and all the food was piping hot which is very unusual for a buffet breakfast. when we had no long got into our room we got given a Scottish welcome basket which was full of tasty goodies and we thought that this was a very nice touch from the hotel.

The staff were excellent and were so accommodating to us (we were staying with a toddler and a dog but none of the staff made us feel like an inconvenience, instead they made us feel very welcome and comfortable). The food was excellent, our room was beautiful and comfortable, everything was such a high standard. There was an issue with an unexpected charge and the staff handled it so professionally. The welcome cookie seems like a small thing but it was delicious (!) and instantly put us in a great mood when we arrived. Thanks for everything, we'll be back.

Love the warm cookie welcome! Dinner was top quality, I enjoyed the lamb rump which went down really well with a bottle of malbec which was recommended by the waitress. Bed was king size and very comfortable, room is clean. We also used the spa facility which was great! Breakfast buffet was amazing - great selection of hot and cold foods/toast/spreads. The haggis was the star of breakfast - best haggis I have ever eaten. I would happily return just for the haggis! Overall, great value for money, nothing to complain about, would return anytime!

We loved the relaxing vibe, staff friendly and pleasant. Building is beautiful we had a room overlooking the front grounds, The room was lovely and spacious. Bed huge and very comfortable. We enjoyed use of the pool. The grounds are lovely for a stroll. It's not far to walk into town which is quaint and pretty. We ate in nick nairn's restaurant we had a very enjoyable meal. Quiet areas to sit and have a drink or coffee away from the biz if you choose. We had a very enjoyable overnight stay and would love to return sometime soon
